Has anyone taken an ATW trip in less than 3 months???

I'm leaving on June 4th (right around the corner) to take an ATW trip with my bf for 31 days. We're visiting Sydney, Bangkok, Cairo, Rome/Venice, Paris, Barcelona, Lisbon and Rio with layovers in Seoul, Amsterdam and Sao Paolo.

Any advice? I have soooo many questions, I don't know where to start. Any general advice - getting around in those countries, foods to eat, places to see and not see, etc. would be GREAT!

You have certainly chosen a lot of places that require more than the average to see them properly. Like Rome deserves a very minimum of 5 full days but more if possible, then when you are there you should also go to Venice, Florence and other places if you had time.

Rio De Janiero was easy enough done in 5 days, but Sao Paulo was a little trashy and I didn't particularly like the city. It could be done easily in 3 days. Bangkok deserves 5 days if you want to see it pretty thoroughly but you should also try and see some more of Thailand other than just Bangkok.

When in Portugal definitely go to Porto as well as Lisbon. I thought Porto was better than Lisbon.

When you go to Cairo, you should do a felucca, but given how short your trip is you are probably not even going to be able to do that.

Sydney/Australia well I think you already know that Australia is a hell of a big country and to even see anything outside of Sydney you'd need more than a week which would be about the most you could posssibly allocate.

Barcelona and Madrid are both nice places, I particularly liked Barcelona. So maybe you could go Barcelona-Madrid-Lisbon-Porto-Madrid on the bus (or something like that). They had night buses between Barcelona and Madrid and also had night buses between Madrid and Porto or Madrid and Lisbon, so that would save you a bit of your precious daylight hours.

Paris 4-5 days, but with only 31 days for such a large trip, you are hardly going be able to spend even 3 days in a city let alone 5 which would be about the minimum in Rome to see most of the city. Rushed is probably understating what your trip will be.

Have a great trip.

Thanks... we already have plane and train tickets, so we know how much time we'll have in each city and will try to plan accordingly. Because I have only travelled to the caribbean internationally, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to stay in a foreign country for too long... at least with the quick trip, if we like a city, we can go back later in life. Plus, we didn't have that many days off of work, ha ha.

Thanks for the advice! I'll be blogging!
