Hi everyone, I would like to know what do you think is the best city in England to spend four or six months working. I'd like to avoid London since I don't like much big cities, but a city big enough to have Universities, a young environment and job offers (graphic design for instance). I've heard good things about Bristol, Brighton, Manchester, Oxford, Cambridge...

I know that it's something very subjective but, what do you think about it?

Thank you

For me it would be Bristol, hands down.

Manchester is great and you've got liverpool and leeds a short train ride away. Oxford and Cambridge are gonna be the nicest to look at and brighton is from what i hear the party town. subjective indeed :)

My niece is from Australia and she came to stay with me in Leeds and stayed the whole year working there. She has only just left and she was in absolute tears. Could be something in it??

Bristol's got a good atmosphere, there's a big (and well regarded) uni there so lots of younger folk and good nightlife - the best music scene.

Oxford is gorgeous, but there's only so much to do.

Can't help with job opporunities, but the bigger the city the better your chances. So maybe Manchester if London is too much?
