Travel Forums Asia Yet another japan cost query...

Hi,

I was hoping you could give me a rough idea of the soundness of my maths on the cost for a month long trip in japan in august from the UK. Haven't really figured out a plan for when I'm there yet but just wanted to get an idea if i can afford it.

At the moment it looks like the break down in US$ is:

Flight 900
Rail Pass 460
Insurance 140
Bed and Board 2400
Daily Expenses 900

Total $4800

Does this seem about right to everyone, I realise from past experience that trying to figure out exact amounts of travel costs is not an exact science but just wanted to get a feel for it. In the past I've found that I spend less then I plan, though I've done little travel in developed countries.

Many thanks for any replies. Excellent forum.

Danny

That sounds okay. It's possible to spend a little less on room and board. However, a $30 daily budget for spending cash in Japan is cutting it close. If you don't buy things you don't need then you'll probably be fine. However, Japan is a very tempting nation lol. It sucked up my money faster than I could count.
