My brother and I are going to Australia for 6 months. Were planning to cover a lot of places while were there. Were not sure on the best way to travel around.
Do you think renting/buying a campervan is a good option and just sleeping in that?
What about getting around in a car and sleeping in hostels?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Having done it twice would defo recommend the camper option, you have the freedom of doing what you like when you like. If your budget allows you to - buy.
I am in a campervan at the mo, its great you can pull up anywhere really to get some kip. Mind you its cold down here in Adelaide so wish i was in a hostel at times. I think best to plan as much as possible and see what the cost of renting would be for your trip. I brought my van from Travelers Autobarn, where i was ripped off - just didn't know at the time. I paid $6500 for it, but its probably worth around $3000. If the cost of renting a van is in between these figures, you might as well buy a van and sell it before you leave. The only problems i found about having the van, is i worry sometimes when i leave it, as its got everything in it. Also if it breaks down, you have to pay out for it.
If you need any advice about buying a van let me know.
Thank you for your replies! Were really excited about the idea of travelling/sleeping in a campervan. Our first stop in Australia is in Cairns early december. How do you think we could go about buying a campervan there? Is it easy to get a hold of one?
