Hi,
If arriving in Halifax and having about 10-14 days, what are the places I can't miss? I'll have a rental car by the way.
Are there any places on the east coast (Nova Scotia in particular) that are good on whalewatching? Or is that not possible on the eastcoast? Other animal watching maybe? It's for the month of september by the way.
Thanks, Michael.

You're not visiting Montreal? Hmph! I hear Cabot Trail is lovely, and Cape Breton must not be missed. Be sure to have the lobster!

Exactly when are you arriving?? Beerman and I will make sure that we are nowhere near Halifax at that time!!!

Watch out for the deer. They like to jump out onto the road at night and then you go veering off of the road into a tree. Watch out for Brenda(n) too - he'll probably be on a bicycle.

Isa now reutrns this thread to it's regularly scheduled topic. ;)

How far exactly is Halifax from Montreal?

Rental cars like to aim for us of their own accord - it was a self preservation thing. ;)
No, I'm afraid we won't be near Halifax in September. Personally, I have only ever been to Montreal for the TP Meet-Up. But, I do know you will get some responses. (And didn't mean to "jack" your thread. Bad Isa!)

Not far - about, say, 5 minutes by car, then turn left.;)

Sincerely - it's a good 1,300 kms, or a day's worth of a train ride. It's worth it, though! There's a free beer waiting at the end of the line (local stuff, eh!).

The free beer does it...but just one? ;)

whale watching of halifax is not garrenteed.
once I tried, I only could see seal's head from faraway for 2 hour sails.
it has much more possibility not being able to watch it.
if you cannot catch some sea mamals, the time on the boat would be boring.
if you rent a car and have enough time, go to Todusac.
it is a small town nearby river.
there, you will have more chance of watching whales.

good luck~!!
