hi i'm flying from glasgow to sydney on the 17th july, i booked with flyemirates through STA travel economy. does anyone know the facilities we'll get on this budget flight? i.e can you drink alcohol, what are the meals like etc!

also, would anyone recommend the YHA card to go with the youth card? gonna be flting to cairns then travelling by greyhound probably to sydney then melbourne after new year staying in hostels along the way.

thanks

Emirates are okay. Yes, they serve alcohol and the food is decent. Good entertainment facilities - prepare to get addicted to Tetris all over again.

Ive flown with Emirates before and they were brilliant!

I believe that with the YHA card it saves u around $1 off accommodation so it depends how much of a budget u r on.

Have a good trip x

Emirates are great - when I flew with them they had this cool thing where you could put your screen on to camera mode and see what the pilot is seeing, or select the camera on the bottom of the plane to watch the scenery.

I would definitely get a YHA card- you can get discounts on greyhound as well as hostels so as you plan on using greyhound you should make the cost of the card up in no time.

$3.50 per night (at YHA hostels), so that earns itself back in ten days or so. VIP and Nomads are $1-$2 per night. They all give the same discount on the Greyhound and such, so which card to get really depends on what type of hostel you prefer. (Massively oversimplified: YHA is clean & good for sleeping, VIP is party, Nomad is alternative.)

Agreed on Emirates being a rather nice airline to fly with.
