ok im going to asia for a year or more till the money runs out, i will have approx 18000 canadian, i am starting in japan, s korea, china, then to south east asia and end in india. well i was gonna plan out my first week or 2 of my trip and then go where ever then wind flows no real itinerary. is this a good way to travel for a new person.

also i am gonna take my mp3 player a very small laptop and a dslr camera with 2-3 lens will using a my dslr be ok to use in the poorer countrys, i know use caution and watch it. but has any one travel with one.

Who can say what will happen really, but just be cautious. I have a similar plan which will commence at the end of this year. It's going to be Amazing! I really find it hard being patient.

You guessed it right yourself. The word is caution. As for India, I can say this - a greater portion of the travelers coming to India carry DSLRs and MP3 players.

The amount of caution that needs to be exercised depends directly on the kind of travel and accommodation. If you're backpacking and staying at hostels etc, you'll be better off getting a locker if available at the place.

Have a good trip. I'm sure it'll be too good.
