I am leaving Malaysia to UK this coming July. A lot of things to prepare for the trip. for eg, buy a big luggage, winter wear (I will stay about 2 yrs in UK) and etc.

Any shop in Johor or KL to recommend for me? How about Singapore?

Can I have the address as well?

Thank you.

Hi,

I could only let you know some of the places in KL.

Pertama Complex - it's near Sogo, could take bus (B101) from KL Sentral and Star LRT too, if i'm not wrong This complex has many shops selling backpacks, luggage trolleys and they readily offer discounts without you asking.

P.Lal Store and Shafarali - which is just down the road after Pertama Complex (by the way, it's in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman). The items here are quite good in quality so it'll cost a lot more and they do not have backpacks here only winter wear.

I've been to one in Sunway Pyramid, PJ they have this shop name 'Winter Time' and have few other branches in Malaysia. I like this shop because they are able to give practical advice, honest and ask questions to understand your needs. Apparently, they offer me a cotton thermal wear instead of wool material (which will cost more - how would someone like me who've never been to UK knows all this??).I'll be going in July as well but i won't be buying much as we could get it in UK upon arrival. It will just be the necessities for me for the first 1 or 2 days . Are you getting a backpack?

For Singapore, head down to Orchard Road. Take the MRT to the Orchard station and make your way to Takashimaya Shopping Centre. There's a shop called "Winning Marketing" (weird name, I know) on the 5th floor (you can check the directory) and it sells pretty decent winter wear. I get my winter stuff there.

I didn't plan to get a big backpack as I don't think my small size of body can afford to carry a big backpack all the time.

I will use 'rolling luggage' instead. Anyway, I will prepare a small backpack for me to go around and I will keep my luggage and most of the belongings inside the hostel.

hello,

I hope the 'rolling luggage' will be alright. I had an experience of 'struggles' (pant!pant!) when i held one (it was the largest size) when i went to Greece years ago. For a first time *packer*, I stuff too many things in it and had people to help me carry it up to a bus .

For Singapore, u might want to try -

1. Campers corner, outside City Hall MRT
2. Peninsula Plaza, around City Hall MRT
3. the Army market at Beach Road for bargains
4. Marina Square - the "winning" shop is there, there is a nice shop selling cold gear and Universal Traveller

KL - Berjaya Times Square has a few travel shops

JB - the new Jusco has a few travel shops as well, and u might also want to check out City Square

I finally buy the stuff from Singapore.

I bought a luggage and backpack from People's Park (China Town MRT Station, exit D). There are a lot of shops selling luggage and backpack, and also other traveller items like raincoat, passport holder and ...

And I bought my winter jacket from Winter Time. This shop got several outlet in Singapore. Like Vivo City and Marina Square.

Thank you for all your helps :)
