Hey everyone,

I will be heading to S Thailand next January. I can't wait to check out the beaches but am not a huge beach person. I was wondering if anyone can recommend other things to do while I'm down there? I'm mainly interested in cultural sites. Are there any temples in S Thailand as well?

I'm sure there are lots of temples in the South, but if you are really interested in culture, then head to the North. Chiang Mai is the tourist center of the north where people go to visit the many many temples and do treks to minority hill tribes. For history I would recomend checking out Soukathai and/or Ayathya.

there are lots of things you can see in south. lots of Wats, Chinese Temples and also Mosque.
for cultural cites,i suggest you go up to the north as well.
but,in the south, you can see the different lifestyle of the ethnics.
thai,chinese and malay cultures.
you can visit Khaw Soo Cheang's house. He is the Gavenor of Ranong from Chinese Descent. There are many chinese and malays at Phuket and Phannga as well.
Once you visit south, dont forget to visit HIN TA and HIN YAI at Suratthani Province. The rocks look fantastic!!!!
You should check it out!!!
lol.
Well,if you had made your decision to the south, just try to avoid Narathiwat,Pattani,Yala and possible Songkla. Politically unstable.;)
