Hey all,

I am thinking about making my first trip to the UAE, specifically Dubai. I am assuming the city is pretty safe, but if anyone has tips on things or places to avoid, I would be grateful. On the other hand if you can recommend a place that must be seen while there I would love to hear

thanks

Heyy, the city is safe, no problem!

Well, I was there a few years ago and I have heard the change since has been immense. So I WOuld not be able to advise you much on that, sorry. But if you dont get much help here then I would email one of the travel helpers, they are very helpful and should be in a better position to advise you.

Good luck

Just go... and leave all your worries behind. Dubai, in my opinion, is the safest place on earth. Its a small place, if you have got the energy, you can see all the nook and corners in 3 days. Night life is OK, almost all hotel have bars/ discos(don't overdo it though) Food is cheap and there is immense variety, so is accomodation.

As for places to see, i'd say all of dubai ( its tiny).

Hi there,

I was there recently but more days were spent in Abu Dhabi and just a day in Dubai which was quite sad :(. The place is extremely safe because theft issues would be dealt with heavily as what i heard. I've been to Al Burj Hotel and it's nearby seaside in Dubai, it was nice view and they have certain days where only women and kids are allowed on the beach (if my memory corrects me)
You could visit Empress Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, it's a 7 star hotel and really classy.
I've got not much to share about other places but i could tell you it was really humid even in the evening. You just feel like you're in a gigantic toaster because of the VERY hot air. I end up leaving UAE with a bad throat and fever. Other than that, do take extra care when you're crossing the roads, they drive real fast and i kind of sense most of the drivers give no mercy on the pedestrians (but hopefully i'm wrong :)). That's all and good luck..

Dubai was a really wicked place especially the desert safari. One thing I found out was that it is illegal to wear shorts in Sharjah area of the U.A.E due to its dealings with Saudi Arabia, but it was fine everywhere else.

And yea one more thing, i hope you're not planning to go next month? Because it will be really humid, and you will not want to do outdoor things like those camel race watch or riding. And wadi too a cruise in 4 wheel drive on the desssert..

Hi

I am a resident of Dubai for 6 years now and indeed, it's very safe here. You don't need to worry walking around even after 3am. But when do you plan come over? July to August will very hot and humid, temperature may reach 50 degress C or over.

Ramadan (month of fasting) will be in September, hence, it might be a good idea if you like to experience culture but if you wish best nightlife and comfortable weather, it's best to come on winter from Nov to Feb I would say.

The next Dubai Shopping Festival is tentatively scheduled on Jan 15 to Feb 15th - sale sale sale upto 80%.

If you like beach then come between March and April.

If you're considering to buy vacation properties, then Dubai is the place I recommend.
