New Year Sydney everything already booked

Travel Forums Australia / New Zealand & The Pacific New Year Sydney everything already booked

Hi guys,

I'm actually living in Perth at the moment, but would like to see those famous Sydney fireworks this year. Thought that was really early with my bookings, but seems that only over $500 / night hotels have some rooms left. Thing is I'm not a total spring chicken so wouldn't like to stay in some cheap hostel in Cross. Nothing against them been there done that. But would like somewhere a bit quiter and "classier" to spend a New Year and maybe few nights after that with my man. Any ideas hotels, apartments, b&b's somewhere not too far from the city would pay up to $200 obviously everybody loves a bargain ;)
Thanks every tip would be appreciated.

Try the Formule 1 at Kings Cross.

Also, the Crest Hotel at Kings Cross (111 Darlinghurst Road), and maybe the Woolloomooloo Waters Apartments at 88 Dowling Street
Woolloomooloo.

That's the best I can do.

You could try Macquarie Boutique Hotel - Wentworth Ave Sydney - we booked there last year for NYE - but we did reserve it in March and my cousin has booked it for NYE this year but did so some months ago.

Beats spending $500 doesn't it?

yes that is true, but might as well then just drive into the city from friends place and have a "dry" one if can't find anywhere reasonable.
That Macquarie Boutique Hotel really would've been perfect in every sense, but booked.....again.
Maybe it's just not meant to be

I have to say the Macquaire Hotel was a perfect location and l wouldnt hesitate to recommend it too anyone but the staff did tell us that after new year when people check out they book immediately for the next year!

Well at least you still have the option of driving into the city for the festivities and celebrations - better than nothing!
