Hi all

Just wondering how much you would get paid for some likely jobs travellers get. How much for say a fruit picker or bar work?

We have working holiday visa's. Also, is it possible we'll get to work together? (two of us).

Thanks for your replies in advance!

Hi guys,

In my experience whilst being here, if your fruitpicking and on an hourly rate the average wage is between $15 and $17 per hour before tax (13%). The hours vary but normally you would expect to be doing at least 8 hours a day, 6 or 7 days a week.

If your fruit picking on a contract (x amount of dollars per bin of fruit) you can get anything from $20 per bin to $120 per bin. Its alot about where you go, who you work for and what fruit your picking - so cant really forcast that figure.

If it helps ive been contract picking for a couple months and everyday ive put in full day ive had no problems hitting $100 minimum, averaging about $150 per day, and heck im by no way the fastest picker.

Well hope this helps abit!
Cheers,
John

Yeh JOhn's pretty much summed up the fruit picking work. If you do call centre jobs you'd be on $20 per hour, same with promotional work. actually from experience you shouldn't really be getting any less than $15 per hour for most jobs, it is usually $15-$20.

Good luck job hunting!

Thanks a lot for your replies. That doesn't sound too bad at all. Not sure about working seven days a week tho. ha. We would like to see a lot of Australia as were there for 6 - 7 months. Is it possible to work one farm for a week then move on to another?
