I did my bit of travelling but until a month ago I never been to New York. I imagined New York has a very dangerous city where you could get killed just walking on the street. Since I was little I watch movies and series which take place in the big apple and I guess my worry came from that.

Now am back from a week in New york and I have to say the city is safe, nothing like i imagined. The americans are so friendly, customers orientated. If they see someone in the street with a map they stop and ask you if you need help. They are just amazing.

I do understand why they find the europeans so selfish, and having such bad manners.

I just wanted to say a big Thank You. It has been a really long time since I felt so welcome in a country.

Well I am glad that you enjoyed your visit. I used to live in NYC and worked on the new york stock exchange. It being a tourist destination I always answered peoples questions and offered suggestions about where to go, restraunts, ect.. Even as a bystander most new yorkers offered assistance to those whom needed some. As far as New York being safe, I find it very safe.. Only a handful of places would I suggest not going at night. I think New York used to be unfriendly and rude but no longer. The only times I see people being a bit rude is during rush hour. Needless to say New York is great, so if you have not been, follow Flo Jo's advice and come visit.

Thanks Flo Jo,

It's nice to get some positive feedback for a change. And if you think those New Yorkers were friendly (which they really are), come to Colorado and you'll really be impressed!
