Knacker has indicated that this thread is about Canada

Can anyone here from Vancouver give me a list of good bars and nightclubs and other points of interest to go to. Im only gonna be there a week tops but I'll try and go to all the good bars.

Vancouver has a rather underwhelming nightlife at best.

Check out and once you hit town cross check with the local free newspaper the Georgia Strait.

However if you want to find out why people like living here don't waste time in some noisy rathole bar-unless you want to meet other time wasters.

Go hiking/mountain biking/kayaking/sailing/board sailing it's all here and more.

If you want a nice view of vancouver and the chqance to sweat zee alcohol out yourself. The grouse grind is a short bus trip away and has amazing views from the top and from there that side of the river you can geta bus to lynn canyon park which has natural swimming pools and brillant walks. Then go back out again and have a yard o whisky

What kind of pub were you looking for? A typical Canadian sports bar? Or, an Irish themed pub (the most popular)? The highest concentration of pubs and wine bars are along Granville Street - between Granville Street Bridge to about Robson Street.

Here are some of my favourites in downtown Vancouver:
Irish Heather at Bloody Alley in Gastown
Ceili's Irish Pub on Smithe Street
The Lennox Pub on Granville Street
The Doolin's on Granville Street

Want something more Canadian visit The Shark Club on West Georgia Street in Yaletown. Another good one in Yaletown is Dix BBQ & Brewery on Beatty Street.Another good mention is Steamworks on Water Street in Gastown.

If you are looking for something a little upscale, go to the Lift Bar & Grill, an ocean front restaurant/ lounge in Coal Harbour. Very pretentious.

A good website on pubs in the Lower Mainland (Vancouver and its suburbs):

Have a great trip!
