Hey guys,
Has anyone ventured up to Ayuthana? Is it worth visiting for a day or two, as I've some time to kill in Bangkok while waiting on a visa? Any advice welcome!

Would recommend it. Spent 2 days there in April. Could do it in 1 day though. We rented a bike and cycled around all the ruins(around 30 Baht entry to each one). A lot easier to cycle around there. The ruins across the river south of the train station were probably the best there.

Buffalo,

I live just out of Ayuttaya and think it's well worth the visit. Most tourists do a day trip up from Bangkok, see the main ruins then head back down to BKK in the evening. Granted there's not that much of a nightlife in town but a few good bars/reseraunts can be found. Hire a guide and spend a few days finding the out of the way places Lot of wildlife out in the countryside, 6 foot lizard sunning himself in the garden this morning and the guys putting up a new fence for me had a 4 foot cobra yesterday (topped it and had it for lunch!) So yeah I would say it's worth a visit.

I went there from Bangkok and did it in a daytrip. It is worth a visit especially if you are in to your photography.
