Hello Dar:)

Of those on your list, I have only been to Thailand. I have just come back, from third trip there. I go there a lot these days, because I have a 6 year old daugher, and the people in Thailand are really nice with kids.
It is also a very peaceful place for women to travel. In fact it is the only country in the world, where I have never experienced sexual harassment. At least not from the Thai men.
Treasured memories: Well, all of it is a treasured memory. One cant not have fantastic and interesting memories of such an exotic location, with a totally different culture to the one I come from.

Hello!
I am on the same boat as Mel.
I love Thailand the most. I just love Thai Food!!!Especially Som Tam!!
You can find both the modern culture and also the old thai culture in the country.
The cultures you can find are very unique.
Up north, you can find the hill tribes. North East, the iisan culture.
Central (bkk),ethnic chinese and Southern part, ethnic chinese and malays.
Thais will help you when you are asking for the directions.
Even if some of them cant really speak english, they will try to show you the direction with sign language or just in broken english.
Thailand is also the place that you can meet lots of people around the world and things are extremely cheap!!!
All my time that i spend in Thailand are the treasure memories.;)

Darren,
Everyone is going to mention Angkor when you get to Cambodia. But, it really should not be missed. The Krabi area of Thailand gets my vote for best beach/swimming spot in Thailand. I am going to suggest DaLat when you get to VN. Cool, forests, waterfalls, different from most of VN. I was tired of being hot and sweaty everyday and enjoyed the respite from the heat while in DaLat. My 2 cents.

out of these 4 places Vietnam was my favourite - amazing scenery, food and people! There is so much to see- leave yourself as much time as possible. I loved everywhere in SE Asia though - Angkor was obviously one of the highlights, Laos is beautiful and more laid back than the other countries, and Thailand has loads to offer too. I had a great time travelling around this region so all my memories are treasured!

Bex - your post has got me excited - we are booking our Vietnam flights tomorrow and lve been doing nothing this past week but reading on the destination!

I loved Thailand - the islands and the surrounding areas are stunning, getting up close and personal with elephants certainly stands out for me, and the food - OMG the food - its too die for! Also it was in Thailand that l first tasted RED SNAPPER barbequed - mmmmmmmmmmmmm worth booking a trip back there simply for that alone!

In SE Asia it's got to be Thailand for me, not just because I live here though. The country has everything, beaches, highlands, the central region, Issan, chaos, nightlife and daylife of anything you could wish for and of course everything has to be sanuk (fun) even work.

Can't beat it.
