well, malaysian newspaper said that the new wonders of the world are not recognised by the UNESCO.
Tool bad. Even the Egyptians refused to be involved as they believe the Pyramids of Giza form the real wonder of the world.

Can't blame either of them, wouldn't want to be on a list together with a new statue, which is more something of the 7 world wonders of new building styles

Does anyone know how much money did the Swiss founder of the new 7 wonders make:)

He must be laughing all the way to the Bank.

He had promised to spend a part of the earnings on the conservation of these monuments. Lets see how far he is true to his word

I agree Utrecht that a more scientific method should have been adopted wherein the votes polled from a particular country could have been given weights depending on its population, thus a weighted average of the votes polled could have been taken thereby reducing the disparity of population of a particular country.

Anyway we travellers are not restricted to only these 7 wonders, we love to see and visit any place on earth that is beautiful in its own right.:)

Peru don't have a lot of population in comparation to the others. Let's see:

Jordania: 5,5 mill.
Peru: 27 mill.
Italy: 57,4 mill.
Mexico: 104 mill.
Brazil: 180 mill.
India: 1070 mill.
China: 1300 mill.

that was even more scientific analysis of population-wsie countries arranged in ascending order.:)

Surely people from other countries also voted in favour of monuments not belonging to their home countries

I remember that the first year when you could vote or something you could acutally see which 7 wonders had been voted the most at that time. Also, you could see where most voters were from....Peruvians have high percentage of internetconnections....;)
