Quoting Not Lost

Wouldnt booking a "pieced together" RTW ticket using budget airlines means that you have to travel on specific dates?

Yes, the cheapest prices are mostly without the possibility of changing it and changing it the last week before you leave, means you pay a much higher price. So it is important to leave lots of time between flights so you don't have to rush it. But all I wanted to say is, that it is possible if you are willing to give up flexibility and fixed routes.

It is! Was exactly what I have read, but in a dutch magazine, which didn't have any (english) link. Was about the same price, but with Australia in the route...so it would be cheaper than the 950 pounds this article says.
By the way, Oasis Airlines mentions already Vancouver as a possible route from Hongkong! Already bookable that is....

i just cant believe that i can fly from uk to hong kong for 150 quid!
i went on oasis hong kong and it doesnt matter if u book a year in advance or a month u can still get it.

i was looking into doing RTW but after reading that article id rather book my own flights. Start with a flight to hong kong n not plan anything else just go with the flo. just knowing that these kind of flights are available for so little money...its great!

Plus i coudlnt find a RTW ticket which DIDNT include australia and new zealand, cus i dont want them included cus iv spent enough time there i wanna concentrate on other parts of the world.

(well not that i couldnt cus i havent looked that much but they all seem to include oz n nz)

Yep, that is the negative side aspect, we all travel on the same routes, and airlines expect people to visit Oz and/or NZ as well. Beautiful countries, but sometimes there are other travellers who want to see only some developing countries, travel cheap etc, and not visiting North America or Australia.
Have fun! Michael
