Hi,
I can definitely advise you about Egypt. First, I have to be frank. 5 days is not much at all in Egypt. But since that is what you have, here are my suggestions.

Cairo = 3 days
Luxor and the Valley of the Kings = 2 days

If you can squeeze in more day, Aswan is worth a visit since that is where the Nile experience is the best.

Hope this helps.

Hi

I went to Turkey last year, wherever you go you get a good vibe but considering the main transport is on buses and they take a day to go between towns, I would recommend going just to Istanbul for maybe 2 nights and then moving on to Egypt.

I spent nearly a week in Istanbul and also travelled around Turkey, a couple of weeks is needed but 2 nights in Istanbul should be enough to get a feel for it and those priceless memories.

If you got only 10 days, pick one country out of the two. Egypt and Turkey are both very large, travelling from one end to the other alone takes about 1 day at least. There is no way you can cover the main sites of Turkey or Egypt in 5 days - but you can in 10 if you pick them carefully.

heff's and pranavc's advice is very good, btw.

My suggestions:

Turkey: Istanbul, Ephesus, Goreme, Pamukkale. For more suggestions look here: http://www.hostelworld.com/tours/countrytourlist.php?ChosenCountry=turkey

Egypt: Aswan (2-3 days, one for Abu Simbel), Luxor and Cairo. If you are flying with Egypt Air, one inland flight is free, so I suggest catching a flight to Aswan, taking the tour to Abu Simbel and then bus and train your way to Cairo and the Airport via Luxor.
