Hi!

I am planning to travel in Australia this month. I will arrive at Sydney airport late in the afternoon and I want to reach Newcastle but I don't know if there is a bus or a train to do so. Could anyone help me? Thanks!!!

There are quite frequent trains from the Airport (International terminal) at peak hour, every ten minutes or so. You would then disembark at Central station in Sydney to buy a ticket to Newcastle. These trains run about every half an hour in the evening, until midnight-ish.

Maybe check out http://www.cityrail.info for more information!

Best to get a bus to Central rather than the ridiculously over-priced train (the airport line has been privatised).

Trip to Newcastle is about 2 hours I think.

No wonder you're confused; what an awful site.

I think I understand it, and no, it doesn't look like there's a bus from Sydney to Newcastle after 21:00. The last bus seems to be at 18:00.

Then I may have to stay in Sydney for a night and travel next day to Newcastle. Are there hotels around the airport that are not very expensive? thanks!

The cheapest is the Formule 1 Hotel Sydney Airport.

best to stay in the city. There is not much at the F1 hotel.... i think a night there would be depressing! There are a couple of hostels next to central station where you would get the Newcastle train. Loads of bars in the area for a few beers!

By the time you pay for a hotel, you may as well rent a car and drive to Newcastle.
