Hi guys!

I'm a 21 yr old female, and am going to be in hong kong on my own for a few days in July. I am looking for somewhere to stay that is safe, clean and is likely to have other travellers staying there. Which would be better to stay in, a youth hostel or a guest house? Also, which area is going to be nearest the shops/restaurants etc... Causeway Bay, Central or Tsim Sha Tsui? Also also if anyone can recommend any hostels in particular that would be great!!

Thanks guys!

Dear nataliecoz,

The Shamrock hotel or Panda hotel in Hongkong is quite good, reasonably price ( ~ 84 - 90$/night), their location is good.

Have a good trip,

[ Edit: no promos in the forums thanks ]

Have a good trip,

90 dollars a night? I was on some package tour then so I never learn the rates.
How much would a similar accomodation cost in Bangkok or Malaysia? Are these the backpacker hostels of HK? at 90 dollars?
Are the rates pretty much the same in shanghai? If I were to stay there for 7 days, I'll need 700 dollars for the hostel/lodge?
I think the ones in Malaysia or Thailand caused me less than ten dollars. (I mean US DOLLARS)

hi i'm a hongkonger and perhaps i can tell you a bit about hk*

first i think places like causeway bay, central and tsim sha tsui have A LOT of restaurants...you can find different cusines here, usually restaurants in central have a higher price.

and i wonder what kind of stuffs you would like to buy? if you want to have a look on the cheap stuffs, you may go to mongkok.

if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

and just a reminder it's really hot right now in hong kong!!!!=]
