Does anyone know how easy this is? To get a perminant visa and live in Australia? I've used the points calculators on the net but just wondering if anyone knows if it's realistic?
Also, will travelling there and working small jobs help at all?
Any help would be amazing!
Its not as easy as it once was..... better if you can get a company to sponsor you and you have an occupation where there is a "skills shortage"
Go through uni for many years and get a doctors degree and you'll have no problems, but without that it is a lot harder (although some jobs which don't require so many years of university are on the skills shortage list). Another option is find a nice Australian woman who is your soulmate (not just like a mail order bride to get citizenship), marry spend the rest of your life happily together and you'll get an Australia passport and citizenship meaning you could live and work here until the day you die if you wanted. You may find someone who also is after British citizenship (assuming you have it) and then they'd also get dual citizenship of Australia and UK which is what a lot of Australian people would like.

Are you considered an Australian as long as you hold the the passport, or do you need to live there for a period to get the citizenship?
I'm a Norwegian traveling with my English girlfriend (we have been together for 4 yrs) born in Sydney (eligible for an Australian passport) planning a trip down under early next year. I'm considering applying for the Spouse visa, does anyone of you know if this is possible despite the fact that my girlfriend has never lived in Oz?
