Guten Abend!

I've booked a 4 night stay in Berlin in September- can't wait!

As I want to cram in as much as possible, want to get the best guide book but I've read mixed reviews about the main 3 guides:

Time Out
Rough Guide
Lonely Planet

Just wondered if anyone had any feedback regarding any of the 3?

PS can anyone point me in the direction of a website listing Gigs/Concerts in Berlin?

Vielen Dank

Dan

Afternoon Dan!

I was in Berlin last summer for 6 weeks and i used the Lonely Planet guide and found it fairly comprehensive and extremely useful. I'm pretty sure that the Rough Guide one would be good too though because i used one for italy and it was as good. No idea about Time Out. Lonely Planet is good in the way that it breaks everything down nice and simply.
As for gigs and concerts, i know that Cafe Zappata on Oranienburg Strasse has live music..on friday's when i was there. Its easily found because it looks like a bombed out building. Check out www.berlininfo.com give you lots of information on loads of things concerning berlin.
Hope this helps and enjoy berlin!

I'd never use anything other than lonely planet. I am also going to berlin soon and am currently planning my trip - i have the LP guide to germany because i'm going to cologne too. the berlin section looks pretty good. i think LP guides always have much better practical info than the other guides which is what you need if you are travelling independently.

With only 4 nights, it's not really that important which guide you use (assuming the one you pick reflects your tastes and interests).

For concert info you might try The Berlin Paper: http://www.theberlinpaper.com/
