I'm gonna be meeting some friends in Bangkok on the 2nd Dec and they have had this hostel booked for them within there RTW ticket.
They have said to pre-book a room there so we can meet up easily but i have looked at some reviews and it sounds pretty awful!
I was thinking i might book a hostel down the road if its that bad!!

Any of you been that can tell me it's not a bed bug infested hole!

Yep I've stayed at Sawasdee hotels (not 100% sure if I've stayed in same one, as they one I stayed in was a few minutes from KSR) they are fine not much character, but clean and good sized rooms and generally pretty good value.

Hi Becky I've just looked at their website and its the 'welcome inn sawasdee' I've stayed at, which is a couple of streets away its quite a bit cheaper than the Khao San Road and a lot quieter. Its part of the same company and you should be able to get a single aircon room for about £4 a night. Heres their website son you can check it out. Its probably worth booking at least a few nights in advance in December as it can get quite busy, so you've at least got somewhere to crash when you arrive, and if you don't like it you've got a base to find somewhere else.

I think Ive seen this place but never been in it , i think i was staying at a place right next to it called the Siem Oriental . The place i stayed was pretty clean you get a fan bathroom double bed for 250 Baht , or you can get more expensive rooms with aircon (personally i prefer a fan) .

I was just on Khao San and it has definatly changed over the past year. It seemed much more sedate than it used to. I would stay at the D & D Inn. My husband didn't like Khao San at all and loved Sukumvit. You can find rooms about the same as the upper end Khao San there to.

I quite like the look of D&D... Thank you!
I also saved a website of the Nana Plaza Inn? Anyone been there? It looks alright but you can never tell from the glamorous pics that may have been taken 25 yrs ago!
