Hi all,

Just came back from a 'scouting' trip down to St Kilda. As I thought, there are a few nice BBQ spots along the Esplanade. I think the best one is the one just off Fitzroy Street. So, here's the plan.

This Saturday (8th January 2005) at 17:00 (5PM)

We meet in the park at the end of Fitzroy Street. To get there, head straight down Fitzroy Street towards the beach. At the end, turn right into the rather nice looking park. Head towards the end of the park, where there is some kids play equipment as well as two BBQs.

I'll bring along enough sausages, bread and onions for everyone. If you are a little more discerning in taste, maybe even vegetarian, I suggest you bring something of your own along (steaks, kebabs, whatever). I'll bring some drinks to keep us busy as well.

Once we're fed up with that, we can easily wander / stumble on to the Prince of Wales or some other pub / bar nearby. There's enough to choose from.

So, there's the plan. Now we need to get some numbers sorted.

Here's the people interested so far who have posted in this thread (and the likelihood of them turning up as I see it) :

  • aimsuk - ?
  • shopgirl + friend - definite
  • Jensan - ?
  • babe967 - definite ?
  • musze - definite
  • satrav - are you in london still?
  • scotsman + gf - ?
  • kurwah - definite ?
  • myself of course.

So total possibilities from this thread: 11 people.

There were also some people who I spoke to in private messages, so I'll follow them up as well. Can those of you who will definitely be there, confirm it, so that I know how many sausages to buy :) ?

Cheers,
Peter

Peter - I'm going to look at some apartment to rent today, but I should be able to make it on time. I might be a bit late, but I'll be there. Also, is there a mobile number I can call you at in case I get lost?

Yeah, here's my mobile if anyone needs it :

-snip-

[ Edit: mobile removed.. ]

Oh well, maybe not quite the huge gathering anticipated, but Karen and I had a couple of good sausages (well, actually, a seagull managed to steal one from under my nose), booze and conversation in the park!

I hope no-one else turned up and I just didn't notice them, because admittedly there were quite a lot of people around. Maybe next time I need to get a Travellerspoint t-shirt made for myself or something!! :) It might act as a scarecrow for the seagulls as well ;)

Cheers, Peter
