Quoting Mel.

yeah, isnt it about time, that Ireland is no longer known as a British isle?

That wasn't your argument a minute ago. You were poking fun at a Canadian implying that he foolish to believe that Ireland was part of the British Isles.

I was just agreeing, with Raven, that it is very annoying, when people insist that Ireland is part of Britian. We usually dont much like or agree with it being called a British isle either. The Canadian guy was rather undiplomatic.

Rraven's point was that Ireland is not part of Britain, which it is not. Even Northern Ireland is not part of Britain. Britain consists of England, Scotland and Wales.

The British Isles are a geographic formation which include Great Britain, (northern/southern) Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey etc.

taking that into consideration, I appreciate your taking my point of view into consideration a step forward.

sin:

not taking others views into account

yes, indeed, U are right Lagered.
I will take all kinds of nonsense into account, in future.
It is the least I should do out of common politeness.
BTW, Welcome to TP.

How polite of you. Thank you for your kind welcome. I look forward to conversing with you in the future.

eating McDonalds whilst on your travels

That implies that it's alright to eat it when at home

Actually, that one doesn't bother me so much (ignoring the fact that i don't eat at McDonalds anywhere, though i do use them as a source of coffee like substance early in the mornings, and as teh worlds largest network of clean toilets), unless of course that is all people are eating. After all, i don't eat Swedish for every meal in Sweden, or British every day in Britain. If i can eat a Chinese or Thai in Sweden without people complaining I should only be eating Swedish, why can't i also have a pizza/McD/KFC (for example) in China or Bangkok?

Doesnt it support the locals more, in developing countries, if we eat at family run restaurants, rather than McDonalds?
Just suggesting why eating at McDonalds might be a sin.
