We have decided to stay in one of these island off the coast of Brasil for xmas and NY. Im wondering if anyone has stayed here before?

They look really nice on paper and accom seems cheap compared to anywhere else at that time of year..

Would i need to book accom for the xmas period now?

(any other info on these islands or islands close by would be great..)

I have booked Che Lagarto on the island for a few days early November. I did it via the link on this site to the left.

It looks as if there are a few new hostels added now:
Mata Virgem Hostel
Aquario Pousada

All 3 look very nice.

If you are defo wanting to go there I would book asap.

I booked my Bs As xmas accomm about a month ago to ensure I got where I wanted.

All I have to do is confirm 24 hours before I arrive now.

Enjoy ilha grande. It looks truely beautiful.

Spent 3 nights at Aquario Pousada on Ilha Grande at the start of Carnavale in 2005.
Accomodation was basic (decent) but the Pousada bar? at night and the fellow travellers made it something to remember.
Main port a 5 minute walk away and we found Aquario very friendly, with one of the Dutch producers of Big Brother hanging there along with a manically-drunk Irishman. FUN every night.
The barman? made a MEAN caiparinha

Have some pics on profile.

I was in Morro de Sao Paolo about 3 weeks ago, it was the rainy season, so there was some heavy heavt rain, but you´ll be going more into their summertime so the weather will be fantastic. The island itself is beautiful, the most common mode of transport is wheel barrows for you bags and the occasional horse, there are no cars and the streets are just sand. Some areas are quite touristy, with clothes shops and restaurants etc, but you can easily escape that and go around the island to a quieter place. There are all sorts of accomodation and I think in the high season a local told us it get very busy. But there plenty to do, hire horses, snorkal, scuba dive, surf, or just relax on the beach. I didn´t go to Ilha Grande so can`t compare but friends of mine have really enjoyed themselves there, but I had a great time in Morro despite the bad weather! Hope that helps.
