Has anybody done a teaching job in Vietnam ? I was thinking of doing it in about 6 months if i can .
Ive had no experience before so if i do it this will be the first time.
Is experience essential and what qualifications do you need IE courses etc. Do you have to have certificates or can you get jobs without them .
Hi Paul, you can teach English at schools without qualifications like May School. In case you wanna teach in famous English centers like Language Link or Appollo, then you need to have a qualification. However, it takes you only 4 weeks training intensively in order to get one. Andof course if you have a qualification, the salary is much higher.
Many of my students who learn Vietnamese often teach English during their stay in Vietnaman and normally they don't need to spend their own money 'cos they earn much from teaching.

plus do you know what sort of payment you do get ?
thanks if you can help on the matter
Sure, you can teach at some schools, which locate right in the center of Hanoi, quite close to Hoan Kiem Lake.
Only English is OK but better off some Vietnamese as well.
Payment is quite high indeed. You will be paid in US Dollars or in Vietnam Dong depending on your demand.

Thought I'd join in and add a few queries of my own. What kind of visa would you need to start teaching in Vietnam and how easy are they to arrange? When you say the salary is decent could you indicate roughly how much a qualified (English) teacher could expect to earn.
Oh and how do you go about finding work
Thanks for the help
