miked has indicated that this thread is about England

I am going backpacking across Europe next year. I was looking at a Eurail pass but then found a Stray Travel pass. I was wondering if anybody has heard anything about them, they seem like a good value. Thanks alot!

Hi miked,
yes its quite a good deal, depends if you have the money for it. Another way is taking the bus that travels during the night and is VERY cheap, student or not. Check out: www.eurolines.com I always do Paris-Frankfurt by bus 37 euros, or Frankfurt-Prague, 35 euros, it takes 6 hours, at night, and I managed to sleep... ;)
If you want to go to Brussels from Paris, 25 euros, one hour ½, there is a special train for it..

Or you can also do some hitchhiking, but done more professionaly ;-) There are many companies, websites where you can reserve your lift. www.compartir.org or www.drive2day.de
They are called Mitfahrzentrale in german, or Covoiturage in french.
With the eurorail passes there are many kinds of it, they are flexible and you can travel in different countries with them...It's really cool apparently, never had one though.
Let me know if you need more information!
Jas

Thanks alot. I think I'll buy the stray pass, it sounds like a deal. The only other transportaton I think I'll need is from Barcelona to Madrid, and I think a bus would be the best deal. The time tables for Stray look fine and it covers the area I was looking at (except madrid). Any other information (books, websites, anything) about backpacking or traveling in general would be a great help. Thanks a bunch!
