billyandme has indicated that this thread is about New Zealand

My husband and I will be on a cruise in mid September of this year, and one of our stops is Wellington NZ. We have no idea of whether to take a land tour offered by Princess, or try and get one on our own through the internet.

Could someone who lives there or who has visited there please advise. We want to see the most important sights of the city, and we only have 8 hrs. to do it in.

If you have any info on Christchurch and Auckland, please advise as well.

Thanks in advance for your help and assistance.

Hi
Wellington is a fairly compact city and you will probably be moored within easy walking distance of most of the attractions
Ta Papa the Museum of New Zealand will probably be right next door and is a must see in Wellington.
The center of town is only a couple of blocks away and has had a fair bit of redevelopment recently.
The New Zealand Parliament buildings and cable car are about a mile away
I would be inclined to do my owen thing if I was you
Have fun and enjoy your vist.:)

I wouldnt join any tours - we stayed over night in Wellington in January and were pretty much able to get a feel for the city - an afternoon in Ta Papa Museum - which is free to visit, then a wander around the town - went to Cuba Street (think thats right) for dinner, wandered back through quite streets, then we walked from our hostel caught the cable car up into the Botanical Gardens which give a great view over the city and beyond then we walked back down into the city centre itself.

I dont know what much else a land tour would actually offer - as l said we didnt spend much time in Wellington but this was easily orchestrated by ourselves and would definately save you cash!
