My husband & I are spending 3 weeks in Thailand - we are flying into Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and hoping to get PADI certified on Koh Tao - do you have any suggestions for getting from Kuala Lumpur to Koh Tao. Also, could you point out some highlights in Southern Thailand or Malaysia we may also want to hit.

The easiest option would prob be flying to Ko Samui and then getting a ferry from there .

Phi Phi Don Island just off Phuket. It is absolutely stunning and the diving their is fantastic.
Visiblity is incredable, amazing reef and fish. And you dive at 'shark point' amongst the reef sharks.
Loads of dive shops on the Island to arrange diving with.

Apart from the diving you can do cliff jumping, walk up the the lookout and able to see for miles (amazing view), you can visit Maya bay (were the film 'the beach' was filmed'),watch thai kickboxing or you can just simply go out on a 'taxi boat' and view the sunset.

Really is an amazing place

In Malaysia I would recommend Taman Nagara national park, the Cameron Highlands and the Perhentian Islands. Another option would be to get the jungle train from KL to Kota Bahru and from there travel into Thailand. It's worth spending a a few days in KL too.

Hello Aalbrec:)

The highlight of Southern Thailand has to be staying in a beachhut, on those sunny tropical islands.
U could also spend some time in Khao Sok. U can stay in a bungalow or a hut, in the rainforest.
