A bit surprised the boy hasn't posted to this thread, eh ? A little too much partying ??!? Too much *glug* *glug* *ahhh* ?

When I chatted with him at 2:15am (KL time) this morning, he was drinking beer... So, you may be right - too hungover to see his keyboard on his new Dell. That, or still modeling his new winter jacket in front of his camera (trying to chose his "best side").

Thanks everyone for the wishes.

It's been an eventful day. The one about the Heineken beer at 2:15am is true. And so is the modelling (if you'd qualify that as one).

And then there's more.

I went to work (yeah, working on a birthday! ) in the morning and had a little mishap. My thumb snapped and got dislodged from the socket while I was trying to push the car door shut after it was not properly closed the first time. I saw it with my own eyes how my right thumb went almost 90 degrees upwards with a crack sound, and then almost immediately snapped back to its position from a reflex. It was still okay at first, and not that painful because it happened in a split second. But moments later, my body and mind went into a terrible and uncontrollable anxiety mode from the pain that got worse and worse. Imagine your body suddenly loses control, blood draining away from your face and your body (to god knows where), cold sweat, wanted to puke, needed to go to the toilet, light headed, pain, agony, all at the same time for 10 minutes. It's really terrible how a dislodged thumb could cause all that. Still makes me shudder just to think about it. *brrr* I NEVER EVER want to experience that again in my life. NOT FUN!

A couple of hours later, I drove to the nearby hospital for a scan to see if there was any fracture. Luck for me, there was none. But the doctor gave me a splint for the thumb and asked me to wear it for the next few days. Yes, I'm wearing it at the moment, and it's a little uncomfortable not being able to move your thumb around, and having a mild throbbing pain every now and then.

That aside... nothing much. No pressies apart from the notebook I got for myself. :) Umm... well, actually there were pressies. It's already in my tummy now. A friend treated me to a dinner. And my cousin bought 3 pieces of different flavoured cheesecakes for me. Yeah, I didn't even get a proper, complete cake! But then... can't complain though. At least she got me something and I enjoyed the cheesecakes. ;)

I received a call from Singapore in the morning (after the thumb incident, so it was a distraction for me at the moment) from an old friend wishing me a happy birthday. Now I gotta reciprocate. Hmm... if only I could remember when. And Isa, yes, I did make that call. It was a nice 20-minute chat.

With that, my birthday report ends.

(Hmm... have I just turned this into a blog?! )

Hey, no commercials here, especially when you don't mention Jupiler as well....not available yet in KL?

Mim - we'll just break the sentences apart, making for more lines of verse, and call it Hien's Haiku! ;)

Or...
There once was a young man named Hien
For durian he had a strange yen
When asked how to eat it
He sighed most defeated
and into the trashbin it wen(t)

--------

Hien - just keep drinking the Hieneken (heehee) and your thumb will stop throbbing somewhere around Friday. There's a reason one should take the day off for their birthday - yours was saving your thumb from the car door assaulting it.

Remember birthdays are times of celebrations and never ever combine prescription drugs and alcohol unless you are prepared to party like a rockstar!
