betsyteete has indicated that this thread is about Ireland

Planning a 1st trip to Ireland this this August. Reserved a cottage in Easkey and will be roaming up and down the coast. Any suggestions on must see places, towns, pubs. Will be driving from Dublin, (little scared) and could use helpful advise on what to expect. Any informations would be appreciated.
Can't wait to get there

you really can't go wrong in the west, as far as i'm concerned. sligo town and Yeats country are lovely. all the scenery will blow you away. remember to talk to the locals. they are friendly and helpful and will recommend out of the way spots. if you eat seafood, you are in for a treat. you have to go see some music...and of course sample the Guinness.. clifden is a fun town, down in county galway. rememeber, ireland looks small on a map, but driving distances are tricky to estimate because of the narrow winding roads. don't try to plan too much. hire a bicycle one day. its a great way to see the countryside. i drove from dublin from a flight that landed at 5 AM...I had never driven in Europe, and it was confusing. Just caffeinate yourself, go slow, and pay attention! I chanted to myself to stay to the left, for the first hour, then i pretty much got the hang of it...have a great time, and be friendly and smile alot and you will have some 'grand craic'!

if you know of towns you want to see, let me know and i'll try to recommend some specifics...

if your rentin a house make sure its close to a town or else get a car, car is handy gives ya a bit of independence cos the auld bus service aint the best in rural areas!! best places in mayo are belmullet- wild, westport- wild(different way though, clare island-wild(in both ways and probably more1), killybegs i dont know much about but i do know north donegal, buncrana, letterkenny, carndonagh and malin(northern most tip of ireland, extremely wild(only in one sense unless your into mountain sheep!). oh but reall you should make a point of headin to galway too is pretty good!
