Id say move on after you feel you have spent enough time exploring Sydeny.

A lot of people make the mistake of landing in Sydney, working there and not really getting out of Sydney much to see the rest of Australia.

My advice would be to make your way up the east coast, doing some fruit picking on the way. Theres quite a bit going up in Queensland just beofre you hit Cairns. I did Banana picking and the money is alright, better than i expected. And its really easy to get work fruit picking to.

Then move on, go through the outback and end up in Melbourne or Perth (whichever way ure going) and then if u need to get work again (office work in the cities).

So yeah if uv got the money to start with id say start travelling ASAP and work on the way

I'd advise to move on from Sydney too, you wouldn't believe the amount of backpackers who land in Sydney and basically see their whole WHV out there, without exploring hardly any of the rest of the continent!! What a waste! Fruit picking is great for some relatively easy cash, although pay's not always great. Its lotsa fun though and a good way to meet fellow travellers. Or get your RSA certificate and look for bar work, also quite easy to come across. Melbourne's a great place, defintitely include that in your travels :) The Gold Coast too, with the sun, beaches and theme parks its a fun place to spend some time.
