Hi

I am a 23yo aussie looking for a change. Have decided to move to the UK to work in a pub for a while in the winter and then travel around Europe the next summer in 2008. Ill be leaving on the 30th November and am interested in any ideas of the best places to live and work in the UK. I read some other threads on this but they were a while ago. I know its going to be cold and I dont want to be situated around other aussies either. I wish to experience the real England.
I am tossing up between the North of England such as Sheffield, Manchester or Leeds, somehwere like that. Or the south such as Cornwall or Brighton. Maybe London if that happens to be the only place I can get work in the winter.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt,

As an aussie living and working in london, i would advise not choosing london if you trying to avoid aussies, as the place is swamped with them :) Having said that, if you are desperate for work, london is probably the easiest place to find it.

Also, if you're planning on travelling to Europe a lot, you should consider looking to base yourself in a city that has a decent sized airport that has routes to places you want to travel. You can get anywhere from London, but Bristol, Liverpool, Bournemouth and probably a few other places have budget airlines that fly to europe.

Hope that's of some help,

Tom

Thanks Tom for your ideas, I hadn't really thought about the airport.

Cheers
