Ok, let me clarify a few things.

1. It's not a popularity contest. After all, you can add as many friends as you like right now. The main point is to be able toquickly see your friends' activity -new photos, blog posts, etc..
2. It was a fairly quickly cobbled together thing we came up with yesterday for a fun friday activity.Hence, more refining is definitely on the way and some bugginess is tobe expected.
3.Mutual friends are a very good idea.
4. Don't expect poking!! Postcards maybe, but no poking! Hehe
5. Showing who has listed you as a friend would definitely make sense.

Yeah, my "popularity contest" was a remark on social networks in general, not this specific implementation. Still, even here I could easily see it sliding down that way. I'd be surprised if it takes more than a month after you implement "who has you a friend" before there'll be a thread asking "who is the most be-friended?"

True, you may have a point there. Whether I really mind, I'm not sure. It's kind of up to the individual to choose whether they want to care about such things. Similar in a way to the "who has been to the most countries" forum threads, etc..

Actually, the contact list has always been a tool of mine for years to keep track of not just friends' activities but other members whom I find interesting enough and also those I think needed my attention.

Aww, man... It'll be fun!!! To those who fun-poked me all the time in FB, be glad that you're safe... for now.

Yeah, this should be added as well, but maybe only to the member alone and not publicly available.

I think this will indeed be private. In fact, maybe the current view will also become entirely private. After initial feedback, it seems like it might make more sense to only show mutual friends publicly.
