Would your boyfriend or daughter think any less of you for living within your means?

No, my boyfriend and daughter would not think less of me.
A person would be unlikely to stay in a relationship, with a person whose values do not resonate with their own. What I mean is I would not be with a guy who would think less of me, for that. My daughter is 6, and kids that age only understand money to a certain level and dont think less or anything at all about their parents money philosophy.
But, I dont think I represent the majority of people in Western society.

Because when I name these two, I know that someone is going to ask why they are the biggest problem and I have to say I don't know which looks stupid.

Looks to me, like u like the sound of your own voice.
Or should I say the sound of yourself tapping on the keyboard.;)

* Spoiling kids to the point that they expect things, thereby taking away their ability to feel grateful knowing that someone cares enough to offer them something.

I completely agree with this and add that it also makes them lack motivation and an understanding of what it takes to get by in the world. Also, I'll add a couple more:

  • Waste - not thinking of what we are doing to the world we're living in
  • Not hugging/loving/helping each other out enough

I can assure you the Western society is not alone in this. :(

Not realising that a lot of the things, you think you need, are nothing more than toys, and thinking that without these toys, they can't be happy. Whilst real happiness can only be found within yourself.

Many there are.
Probably not doing reflection on life and journal writing.
I do think when some people do, it gets them be in touch with conscience.

And not every westerner (with a job) has this problem
