Hi Debbie,

Chatuchak weekend market is too big. I think you can finish walking around within that 2 days.

Other places to see in BKK, you can visit Wat Phra Kaew and the Grand Palace. Its near Khaosan Rd. Do visit the Amulet Market too. You can see lots of Jatukham
It is famous in Thailand now. Its hot in Thailand. Maybe you can get 1 as your souvenir.

Other than that, you can try to go to Suan Lum Night Baazar near Lumpini Park. Its almost the same as the weekend market. Well, things there are a little bit expensive than Chatuchak unless you are good at bargaining.

At night you can hang around at Khaosan Rd and have some drinks or head to the Boxing Stadium to catch some Muay Thai matches. There are only certain days which have matches. For Ratchadamnoen, i think it will be Tuesday and Friday if i am not mistaken. Lumpini, not sure.

Well, do enjoy your trip.;)

hi Debbie,

i just returned from a trip of South East Asia.

U can consider visiting Pattaya which is just 2 hours from Bangkok and the nearby coral island.

U can try the water scooter, para-sailing and under-sea walk in the coral island. Just bargain for the rates as this is the lean season there and u will get a good deal.

As for bangkok the temples of Buddha are worth visiting. Then u can also visit the Floating market which is around 2 hrs journey by road then u r transferred to a boat to see the market. It is worth a visit.

Regarding Bangkok it has lots of budget accomodation. This is the lean season and u can easily get good bargain rates. U can get 3 star hotels for around 1000 Bahts.

Cheers and have a nice trip
Arif

the viengtai hotel is situated on Soi rambuttri and you can get a standard room for about 2000 baht, and it has a swimming pool. I didn't stay here but it was recommended to me by several people (it was out of our price range in the end). it's in a really good location too - soi rambuttri is a good backpacker area and its also round the corner from khao san road which is the main backpacker street.

Jim Thompson's house is interesting - it is a restored teak house which used to be owned by a silk merchant. you can get a good value guided tour. the grand palace is a must see and there are many other interesting temples around the city.

take a trip down the klongs (canals) - an interesting insight into Bangkok life.

beware of tuk tuk drivers offering to take you to a gem store - you could be stuck there for the afternoon! and don't believe them if they tell you the place you want to go to is closed/dirty etc. they get commission for taking you to particular places.
