Hello again! I am currently in China and off to Japan next. After that I wil probably have very little money left if any and was thinkign that if possible I may go to Indonesia or India for a week or 2. I hear that maybe its possible to get by on 200 pounds month in india with travel?? Also Indonesia is supposed to be very cheap and maybe the weather is better there? I also need to think about getting from either Japan or Shanghai to these places and back to the uk again, any cheap airlines anyone know of? Anything help real with anything!! :)

Thanks

Ian

By the time you're done with China and Japan, the weather in India would have cleared up and its going to be a very good time to visit India. But 200 pounds seem a little less for a month, if that has to include all travel and accomodation. Maybe someone who's actually backpacked across India might be able to give some realistic figures.

Hello Ian:)

I have not been to Indonesia, but I would certainly recommend India. There is no place like it.
The ultimate travel experience.
I think a budget of 18 Euros per day is what many suggest, at the moment for backpackers. Some get by on less.
If u are on a tight budget, remember to take the visa cost and the Airport tax into consideration.

I've been to India in January. 1 month cost me 350$ - everything included beside airplane ticket from and to Europe. I'll will suggest you to go there, cause as Mel said, it really is an ultimate travel experience.
Best of luck

From my experience India is cheaper and easier to travel around. Both countries are brilliantly diverse, but you could probably do more in India in a shorter amount of time, unless you can afford a couple of airfares to get you to places like Sulawesi and Papua. Shame you can't do both, both places are amazing.
