I just went to Marseiille recently, and although it's warm and the waters are beautiful, I think there are far nicer places to visit laong the coast. Aix en Provence is very lovely, too.

Provence maybe? I visited Avignon this year and it was a very attractive city and interesting place to visit. You could visit Avignon, and Aix-en-Provence, and stop off at Orange and see some provencal countryside into the bargain. 4 days isn't that much but you could squeeze it all in.....

I just got back from France and stayed primarily in the Nord Pas de Calais region, which is right by where you are arriving in France. I was staying in the Arras area, which was really wonderful, there is a lot to see and some beautiful towns to visit. Also really amazing if you like World War I or II history, the Vimy Ridge Monument was really great. Good for making a day trip to Belgium as well.
