I went to Rome in mid-March a few years ago. The weather was beautiful - sunny and upper 60's/lower 70's the whole time. Not sure if that's normal though.

Europe in late Feb and March can be beautiful, but also quite shitty. If you are prepared for an occasional rain shower and potentially winter trying to make a last appearance with some strong winds and weak flurries of snow, you will have a great time. Go to Paris first, this way you will have a slightly better chance of good weather in Rome. Spring comes about a month earlier to Italy and you really feel this when you cross the Alps.

If you're lucky you can catch really mild weather in these cities. Have been in Paris in January and February and a coat was enough (it worths to schedule your trip to the first weekend of a month, as on the first sundays most of Paris' outsanding museums are free of charge).
In Rome in early March a sweater was enough, and you could avoid in both places of the hordes of tourists ;)

Bon voyage / Buon viaggio :D

Hello J:)

I think those are good times to visit, despite the cold, because those cities wont be so crowded with tourists, at that time of year. I was in Paris, last March. Bring warm clothes.
