For efficiency sake, I would like to learn more about text messaging.
So far, the only one I use is u, instead of you.
Please post the most common ones here.
When I get zippy with those, then I will post another thread, asking for the more advanced ones.

Although it is fun, I try to avoid it. I remember a girl from Ireland which used a lot of crap and I really had difficulties reading the english, especially as english is not my native language.

Oh Mel, we would like to avoid the grammarians (sorry for this word) stuff

What is a grammarian, Utrecht?

U have to admit, that it would save posting time, if one posts all ones posts using text messaging.

I abhor text talk - especially in mediums (like forums) where one has plenty of time and space to write in full words. I truly believe that all this text talk is helping to ruin people's ability to communicate the written language. Fifty years ago, you couldn't leave school without knowing the difference between their/there/they're or your/you're an so on. Plus people knew when and where to use a semi-colon, of all punctuation marks. Today even the simple comma gets shoehorned into places it has no right to be.

Text talk has nothing to do with efficiency unless you're writing a telegram.

So says this writer (who admits she can't spell so well).

Bla, you know what I mean.
Text messaging is not meant for forums, the end and it reads more difficult as well for none-english speakers. And it is meant for text messaging on your cellphone.
