I'm going to Oz in January, and I want to go scuba diving, but I don't have a certificate. Does anyone know how much it costs to take the certificate there? And does anyone know how much it costs to sky dive? Grateful for any answer=)

I did a trial dive in Albany, south east of Perth for a day, which was really good. Cost was $175 AUS for the day. Not that cheap but then again i wouldnt do a lot of diving any other time anyway which doesnt justify me getting my diving cert for 1 go.

There are other places im sure in Oz you can do trials as well. As for skydiving if your going to NZ or Fiji id wait to do it there much cheaper but if a must in Oz then i cant help you as i did mine in Abel Tasman National Park, NZ.

It's a few years ago that I got my PADI Open Water Cert. at the Great Barrier Reef off Cairns and as far as I remember it cost me around $ 400. Cairns is a good and fairly cheap place to learn how to dive as competition is high and all the major diving schools offer good quality training and gear.
I opted for a course instead of trials and it included two nights on a diving boat out on the reef. I really had a fantastic time and actually loved it that much that I continued diving at other spots in Australia, including Ningaloo Reef in WA which is probably one of my favourites.
Concerning the skydiving, close to Cairns there's Mission Beach where you can go for it, but I agree with Smythy you'll probably find cheaper option in N.Z.
Have fun and if you have any more questions let me know,

Thank you for answers=) I think I'll go for a cert, as I will probably use it back home too. In Norway it costs at least $ 1000 AUD for a cert. I was thinking of going to NZ on my way home, so if I sky dive there, how much shall I reckon to use?
