This is what i can't find: cheap(-ish) airfare from either Newark, Philadelphia, NY or Pittsburgh to my destination of Toulouse (or Paris, since I found a decent train ticket to the south). So far I've tried Aer Lingus, American, easyjet, ryanair, and skyeurope with possible connections and airline switching in Dublin and London. Why is it so expensive to just fly to Paris from the states?? I can't seem to get there for less than $1000. I have a voucher worth a few hundred dollars if I use American for part or all of the trip and I think trying to use them is making this search much more difficult. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. My travel dates are the last week of September (anytime) returning anywhere from the 23rd- 27th of December.
Many thanks for any advice besides switching my travel dates.
the first flighfare i saw when I started looking is 490 euro to Paris from New York with Air India.
I kayak(ed) it. British Airways from Newark 9/25 or 9/26 to Toulouse and returning on 12/26. This was $876. Might be able to find a little lower with a little more finagling as well. Hope this helps.
Possibly the reason it is expensive is that you have left it so close to the date you want to depart so all the cheap seats would have sold a couple of months ago.
check on airgorilla.com
the cheapest is $587 from Newark to Paris on Air India from Sept 27th to Dec 27th
Check STA travel (statravel.com) its got some really awesome deals...just check the actual price with taxes. I've found some anywhere between 750 and 1500 US dollars. It shows all of the flights from every airline and their prices. Change the dates and times around some and you can better deals (like a tuesday or wednesday rather than saturdays- if you can). Also look under different arrival cities (any international-such as Paris or Marseille or Nantes) and the prices are nearly the same but it may be bit closer to your destination. I hope this helps.
Best i can manage is 480ussd return (JFK - LGW) including all taxes. That price works any time in last week of september and in the Dec window, though that one is more likely to go up. Cheaper possible if you go Montreal - Paris, but you may loose the saving getting to MTL
