Not having a clue how long it would take to get a WHV granted, I applied for it on Fri 27th July and to my great surprise got my visa granted on 28th July! This was for a proposed trip begining end of October/Start of November. Due to unforseen circumstances it will be mid November before I can now leave for Australia.

My reading of the rules regarding WH visas are that you have 12 months to enter Australia from the date it was granted. You then have 12 months in Australia from the date you enter the country.

Can anyone clarify that this understanding is correct?

ie Even if I now dont get to Australia until say the 15th November would that mean that it would be 15th November 2008 before I would have to leave again?

All help and replies greatly appreciated!

yes you are correct - as long as you enter within 12 months from the date of the visa being issued, you will be fine, and your year will start from the day you enter Australia. You can leave and re - enter Australia as many times as you wish within this period, but any time out of the country will not 'stop the clock' on your visa - your year will still expire on the same date.

Or if you like Australia that much you can extend it for another year if you do 3 months of seasonal work, im leaving Nov 1st, well prob Nov 5th, as i have to get my money changed.
