Hi, can anyone recommend a good hostel in Perth. Im looking for somewhere nice-dont mind paying up to 30 dollars a night for a nice dorm room. I usually stay in YHA's but have heard some bad things about this hostel. Somewhere with a nice atmosphere but relatively quiet-im more interested in exploring perth than partying all night.

I stayed in the Emperor's crown hostel just after it had opened in November 2004 and thought it was really nice. It's in Northbridge, a few minutes walk from the main centre.
the YHA in Perth is awful! I stayed there for 2 nights and it's the worst YHA I have ever stayed in - surprising as YHAs are normally fine.

Thanks for that-the website looks pretty good-i emailed them yesterday but no response so far-will give them a call tomorrow.

Any tips for must do activities in Perth?

Perhaps if you look on you might be able to book through there.

In Perth I would recommend:

Kings park - nice to wander around
An afternoon in Fremantle visiting Fremantle prison
Have a delicious, cheap curry at Govinda's vegetarian Hare Krishna restaurant in Northbridge
Rottnest island
day trip to the pinnacles desert including sandboarding

from Perth I did a trip down to Dunsbourough, Margaret river and Albany with easy rider tours which was really good.
