Get the digital maps from www.Tracks4Africa.com They are inexpensive and are designed for offroad travel in Africa. The best available and most current of anything on the market. You can download to your pc and make a plan for your trip. Also, these maps are designed for map capable Garmin gps to navigate by while on your safari. But you should read up on this at their website.

In South Africa the company that specializes in buy back vehicle deals is called Drive South Africa. They also do car rental and 4x4 hire. You can find their site on the internet.
You don't have to travel in a 4x4 for much of African travel, but if you will be heading into reserves and parks you may be better off going in one.
Also Overlanding Africa is a great online resource for planning a trip in Africa. They have loads of experience and different travel options.

Thnaks Landia. I have actually contacted drive South Africa before from someone elses recommendation. I think the buy back scheme is good but what they quoted is too expensive for us to pay upfront. We will have to consider our options and decide.
