justiniano has indicated that this thread is about Portugal

I was thinking in buying a digital camera. After reading some reviews abou D100 and D70 I think I need some help. Assuming that I have money to buy any one of them, what is the best choice?

I don't have any experience with these cameras myself but i've heard that the image quality of the D 70 is better than the D 100.

If you were to make reference to owners of D100, they will advise you to purchase the D70. The features available in D70 are more advance as compared to D100.

it's a difficult choice but it all depents on the user.

What are you gone do with the camera.

Forinstance i heard that the d70 didn't have a connection for a remote so if you need that then go for the d100. it also doesn't have a mirror lockup so if you need that the go for the d100.

I think that the d100 is the more "pro" camera of the both. and i hear less problems with it.

I have a D100 and it is a great camera. That being said,
If i had to do it again i would buy the D70 for the following reasons
1) Check the image comparison charts and you'll see the D70 edges out the D100 in color
clarity at 200 iso and clearly beats it at 800. In general it has better color and more color enhancements than the d100.
2) sync speed of 1/500 on d70 to d100's 1/125
This feature alone makes the d70 a better buy.
All the pros use high sync speeds for flashfill daylight shots and with the d100 I've already missed some great shots to the lower sync speed.
3) d70 has 3d color metering, an upgrade from the d100, along with the vertical horizontal auto-align, which comes in very handy and d100 misses there.
4)D70 can use regular batteries as well as lithium, convenient on those vacations to anywhere where you can't charge up on 110v.
5) price
summary: the D70 is just an improved D100 with a few indespensible features that make it a better deal, and a better camera. It takes what's good about the d100 and makes it better and cheaper. How can you go wrong with that?????? I'm not rushing out to buy a d70 right now but I'm not a pro and I can wait and see what the upgraded d100 will be, I like the d100 don't get me wrong- it produces great pictures, but at this point in time 9-7-04, the d70 beats it. I would get one for a second body if I had an extra thou lying around.

Just another thing to keep in mind.

The D100 is getting prety old and the Photokina is coming this month. So i would expect Nikon to bring atleast one new Digital slr to the market soon.
So if i was to make this desicion then i would wait till after the photokina (and of course go for Canon )

If you have bigger budget, consider Canon EOS 20D instead of the D100. Another option is to look for a second hand Canon 10D as there will be owners who are upgrading to 20D.
