Hi Mel
I think the answer to your question on the weather depends on to whom you talk and where they have been. I have been in Thailand for about a month now and I have been pretty lucky with the weather. There have only been about 2 or 3 days where the rain stopped me from going out. It definitely rained more in Chiang Mai than Bangkok or Krabi, but it was mainly Spring showers, you were dry in a short while. In Krabi it mainly rained at night when it did rain. It certainly has not rained every day or even every second day on my trip. Personally, the weather would not deter me from coming to Thailand in August or September (although other things would). As I am Irish, I am fairly resilient when it comes to the odd shower - I haven't encountered floods here, but maybe I have simply been lucky. Just have a contingency plan (dvds, games, activities) for the rainy days. Anyway, that's my two cents worth. There is freakish weather all over the world these days, so nobody can predict what the weather will be like next year, never mind next week. Hope this helps

I stayed in kanchanaburi for 3 days there are plenty of day trips you can go on there, i didnt actualy think id enjoy it as i like to go to more livley places but, i loved it. Ive Just got to ayuttaya just staying hear for a day, to see the temples, then off up to chiang mai for 7 days on the night train tomorow night. Im give myself that long there because a friend whos up there at the moment has told me about on a 4 day trek he is doing in jungle, plus about other things to do that will take time aswell.
