I thought it was a good match - but then I would wouldn't I?

It was particularly exciting during the last 10 minutes - my heart was in my mouth when Mortlock kicked that penalty (it went wide). Australia made a few more mistakes than you might have expected but looked more likely to score tries than England, they definitely had the better runners overall. It should have been a higher score though - Wilko missed one fairly simple pen and a reasonably clear drop goal.

England seem to have gained some weight from somewhere since the group stage - maybe Mr Ashton has put Steroids in their water!

England were the better team and deserved to win. Even the Aussie press seem to have taken that view. Just watched the All Blacks do the hake, with the French team stood in there faces staring them down. Classic stuff!!!

Yeah, was pretty amazed that England beat Australia - they did indeed play better than the error-prone Wallabies. Not sure what happened to Australia, they looked rather out of it, only the occasional flashes of flowing rugby, although the try by Lote Tuqiri was very well worked.

I have just reread this and i have no idea what the 'hake' is. I'm guessing people know what i mean.

LOL, yeah I thought it was a typo for "haka".

Well, fat lot of good that did for New Zealand. I can't believe they lost to France. Not a good day for southern hemisphere teams!

Good night for watching rugby though, they were both very good games I thought. Both could have gone either way.

What a game, apart from the massively forward pass that lead to the french 2nd try it was a great game.
Crap result for NZ, but it might bring them down to earth and realise that they need to plan for world cups better. Not peaking for the 3 years 11 months between world cups.

Aussie out, New Zealand out wow two of the fav's for the cup. Now only if Fiji beat South Africa and Argentina beat Scotland the upsets to the form book will be complete.

England v France next Saturday

Hopefully South Africa take it out,Cant let all 3 tri nation teams go out.Anyhow its only a world cup .I think overall statistics shows more of who the best rugby teams are in the world not just 1 game.Anyhow England are crap,France are crap there just lucky they got the games, bet they couldnt do it again,Its allways the tinass teams who win.Same goes for the Football world cup as well.

ooh, now now, be nice. NZ choked yet again. No point saying you're the best in the world if you can't even handle the pressure of a quarter final, after all top class sport is all about being able to handle the big matches. This world cup was blown wide open yesterday. Great for the neutrals. Say what you want about England and France, but we'll be down the pub watching a world cup semi final next saturday cheering our teams on.
